Book Meme

Bold the books you have read. Italicise the books you might read. Cross out the books you probably won't read. Underline the books you have on your shelf to read or have started reading. Pass it on.
(NB. Since I can't cross out text on this Blog, books I won't read have asterisks before and after them.)

Hurry up and read The Time Traveler's Wife--it's one of the best books I've read in the last year. So sayeth everyone else I've urged to read it as well. Also, consider putting Memoirs of a Geisha on the to-read list--despite the allegedly mediocre movie, it was a very good book.

The problem is finding time to read non-fantasy books, especially with two major fantasy criticism projects to do this year... I'll see if I can pick up The Time Traveller's Wife at the library today... I've heard a lot of negative comments about Memoirs of a Geisha (the book, rather than the film) - several people have said there are far better accounts of life as a Geisha out there, hence my decision not to read it.

TTW is kind of fantasy...or at least science fiction, sort of. My MIL's book group read it, and she invited me to come along to discuss. It was hilarious--all these blue haired ladies who had never read any SF before. They had a lot of trouble with the premise...suspending disbelief wasn't something they were used to doing. They got more into it after I discussed the SF genre a bit...

Oh and about MoG--that criticism may be valid (I have no specific knowledge), but it was a very engrossing page-turner, and well-written to boot. I would read TTW first, though.

Practically ALL the copies of The Time Traveller's Wife are out on loan across the whole of Oxfordshire (it must be a "Richard and Judy" (like Oprah) book or something !)

I'll have to think about MoG - I'm really not that interested at the moment, though.
