Doctor Who Quote of the Week

[The Doctor, Capt. Jack and Rose are cornered by the "Empty children".]

The Doctor: Go to your room. Go to your room! I mean it. I'm very, very angry with you. I'm very, very cross! Go to your room!
[The children lurch away.]
The Doctor: I'm really glad that worked. Those would have been terrible last words.

("The Doctor Dances", Season 1 New Doctor Who)

I don't watch Doctor Who, so I don't usually get these quotes, but this one really made me laugh.

It's an interesting moment. The "empty children" are genetically altered people who are really gas mask zombies - and actually quite scary - so there's fear and humour mixed together there - something that Doctor Who does very well at times (and especially Steve Moffat who wrote this and the previous episode - The Empty Child - from which I quoted)...

Interesting. You're going to convince me to watch Doctor Who yet!

Ooh good ! The more converts the better !!

Be warned though - the quotes I've been posting so far are all from the first season of New Who starring Chris Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor. He's not as pretty as Ten ! (Season 3 is THE best one so far - aside from the bl**dy awful finale !)

Yeah, but if I were going to start watching it, shouldn't I start with the first season?

You'll have a better understanding of the subtext of season 3 if you've watched seasons 1 and 2 first, certainly !
