Personal News

October is Breast Cancer Awareness week, and today I found out that my mum (who had a brain tumour removed last year) has been diagnosed with DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ). She'll be going into hospital for an operation to remove it on November 15 - an overnight stay only.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mum. You've reminded me I'm late for my 6 month scan. I had several lumps removed 2 years ago and was diagnosed with ADH, a possible precursor to conditions like DCIS.

Thanks Mai...

I hope your scan will be clear.

Thinking of you, and your mum, in all of this. Actually, I've been thinking of you recently anyway, thinking that I missed emailing back and forth with you (I mean, I think it's great that you're working on your writing so much, but still...I miss the e-chats).

Thanks Jen...

I miss talking to you too - I've got very bad about actually commenting on Blog posts although I do read them via Feedblitz... I keep thinking I should find the time to comment more, but between reading little (about a book a week these days), writing lots and working online (which is very time-consuming), it doesn't seem to happen much !

I'll always find time to respond to personal emails though !

Michele--We had a family member with the same thing. She finished her treatment well over 5 years ago (maybe closer to 10) and has had no recurrences. It sounds as if positive outcomes are common with this condition, and I'll certainly be hoping for one for your mother, too.

Thanks Gail, that's good to know. My mum seems fairly positive herself, so I'm staying positive too.
