Earthquake !

Just in case anyone out there hears the news from the UK and wonders - yes I did experience the earthquake at 1 am today, but I was only shaken not stirred. It woke me up but I assumed it was simply the wind gusting about - being in an attic room on a very windy road (it should really be called Wind Tunnel Road!), I am quite used to feeling every buffet when the wind picks up as it has been doing the last couple of days. I heard what I half thought was someone running down the roof above my head, and though I was mostly asleep I knew that was mad - it was probably some tiles falling off the roof...

Anyway I live to tell the tale - for what it's worth !

Thanks Sheila. I confess I wouldn't have mentioned it but a German friend contacted me early and asked if I was OK, so I figured I'd post about it just in case people heard the news and worried.

It was the strongest one we've had in 25 years (5.2) so definitely a talking point !

Wow! That's amazing, Michele. I haven't read the news yet, so this is news to me. I'm glad you're okay!!

Thanks. I confess to being mildly disappointed that my tale lacks dramatic impact - not that I wanted the roof to come down on me or anything, but...

Glad you're ok, Michele! Incidentally, I like your use of the word "buffeted" in your post - you don't see that in common use all the time, and it's such a great word. Take care of yourself!

I am uncommonly fond of uncommon words ! :P

I had no idea there was geologic activity or faults in Angleterre.
I was in an earthquake in California once and never really noticed it because it was over so quickly.

Glad you were only shaken, gently. Take care.

Well there are no actual faults, that I'm aware of, in England itself...

But yes, we do get the occasional earthquake !
