News for Anthony Horowitz fans

I've just been reading the latest news on the Anthony Horowitz news blog. Anthony's currently in the process of moving house (this close to Christmas ?!), but he tells us that he's currently 35,000 words into Snakehead, the next Alex Rider novel - and the better news is that it won't be the last, there will be at least one more after this one - Yay !

Sadly, the US release of the Stormbreaker movie didn't really happen, so we may have to wait a while for Point Blanc to be made. It's a shame, because it did really well in the UK - $15 milllion is a lot for an independently made British movie !

And for fans of the "Power of Five" (also called "The Gatekeepers" in the US) series, the third book, Nightrise will be out in the UK (at least) in April 2007.

My brother will be disappointed. He was looking forward to the movie.

Oh dear ! It's already out on DVD here - I wonder if it will be out over there as well ? I don't know if you read Anthony's Blog, but apparently the problem with the distribution was that Harvey Weinstein didn't bother distributing it ! Which sounds to be like a contract breaking issue, and therefore it should be worth compensation - not that compensation will help the poor fans who missed it !

I thought I saw a review for the Alex Ryder movie in my local city paper. It wasn't very favorable, and then I never heard anything about it again.

Gail, I'm not surprised you heard no more - I gather the film was only released in a very small number of cinemas (proportionally speaking) in the US. Anthony Horowitz seems (understandably) quite bitter about it !

This is the movie mystery of the year to me. I also saw reviews but even here in the big city of Houston, I never actually saw a theater showing the movie.

I can only wonder about the money behind the movie that did not get it distributed over here. Odd.

I saw Eragon this week and it certainly was not a cinematic wonder according to the reviews but I found it to be very true to the spirit of the book and fairly entertaining. I expect I would have felt the same about Stormbreaker.

I have to remember to check in with Horowitz's blog more often. Thanks for the heads up.

It's a puzzler and no mistake ! I hope you guys get to see it eventually - on DVD if not on the big screen (although the big screen would be better !)

It's available on Amazon.com now!

I just got it through Netflix and watched it. While not brilliant by any means, I had fun watching it.
