Brief personal news

A brief bit of personal news to say that my mother had the operation to remove her brain tumour today, and after 4 hours of surgery (and rather more of waiting), I heard that she came through it OK, and the surgeon is very happy with the outcome. Today feels like the longest day of my life...

I'm so sorry, Michele; it must have been horrible for you, waiting like that. I'm glad to hear that she came through OK, and I hope she has a complete and speedy recovery.

You must be very relieved. I'm glad your mother's op went well, and know how stressful such things can be for _you_. Take care.

Thank you all. Yes it's a big relief that the operation is over and that Mum came though it OK. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for a prompt and problem-free recovery as I know how much she hates being stuck in bed !

Thanks Jen. I've spoken with my Mum twice now. She sounds reasonably bright and cheerful, but very tired, although I suspect that my ringing her during visiting hours (a coincidence of timing on my part) hasn't helped. The surgeon has confirmed that the tumour has been completely removed, so we're waiting for the swelling to go down as that's affecting her right arm and leg, and the right side of her mouth.
